Tom's Working Opal Mine is an Underground Opal Mine situated along the Stuart Highway, just 500m north of Coober Pedy.

Choose a Guided Tour (supervised, try hands-on activities if you like) or a Self-Guided Tour (walk-through, just looking) through our mine to get an insight of what it means to be an "Opal Miner".

Look at "Opal" still in the wall, learn all about the Precious Stone, how a "blower" and a "Tunnelling Machine" works, why we drill "Holes" into the ground, experience a ride on the "Bosun Shair", try your hands on "Divining Rods" and go "Noodling".
