Getting to Coober Pedy

Coober Pedy is roughly 840kms north of Adelaide and 680kms south of Alice Springs.

Driving from Adelaide, head north to Port Wakefield, turn right onto the Augusta Highway to Port Augusta, turn right past Port Augusta on to the Stuart Highway until you reach Coober Pedy.

From Alice Springs, head south on the Stuart Highway until you reach Coober Pedy.


By Plane

Regional Express Airlines (REX) operates flights between Coober Pedy and Adelaide, usually 4 times per week. It takes 2 hours to fly from Adelaide to Coober Pedy.

Vehicle Rental

If you wish to visit all attractions in Coober Pedy, it’s best if you rent a vehicle. There are no taxi services in Coober Pedy. There is also no shuttle bus from the airport to town so if you do not wish to rent a vehicle, please speak to your accommodation provider and request that you are collected from the airport.

By Bus

Greyhound Australia travels daily form Adelaide to Coober Pedy (11-hour journey) and from Alice Springs to Coober Pedy (8-hour journey).
