Parks & Gardens

The District Council of Coober Pedy’s Parks & Gardens Department caters to many different recreation areas. These include the OZ Minerals town oval, the Playground & Skate Park as well as the town’s Orchard.

Oval

The District Council of Coober Pedy owns and manages the OZ Minerals town oval. The oval is a fully powered venue which includes various facilities which include public toilets, a catering van, an umpire booth, undercover seating and currently a gym (paid membership is available through the Sports & Recreation Committee). The oval also has lights for events held at night.

The oval is available for sporting events including (but not limited to) cricket, soccer and football as well as other events including festivals and carnivals.

Playground & Skate Park

The District Council of Coober Pedy owns and manages the playground & skate park located near the Youth Shed and OZ Minerals town oval.

Most of the playground is under cover. However, some exercise equipment, a zip line and the skate park is not under cover.

Orchard

The District Council of Coober Pedy owns and manages the Orchard located near the OZ Minerals town oval.

The orchard contains a variety of fruit and olive trees. The olives and fruit are available to the public throughout the year free of charge.
